About The “KIDS” Program

AudienceThe KIDS Program at Saint Anthony Shrine takes place on the third Sunday of each month, giving working poor families the opportunity to gather, socialize and enjoy a healthy meal. The aim of the Program is to create a community and educational atmosphere among those who attend. Children range in age from 5 to 14 years and are accompanied by their parents. These children attend parochial and public schools in the Greater Boston area.

KIDS ActivitiesThe first segment of the KIDS Program is devoted to educational topics and features programs focused on Nutrition, Music, Art, KID Safety, and much more. Some of the previous KIDS Program included:

  • Martin Luther King’s Birthday and “I have a Dream” T-Shirt Painting
  • Military Reservists speak about the War in Iraq/Valentine Cards to the Troops in Iraq
  • “KIDS Nutrition” with games and homemade healthy pizzas
  • Red Cross Water Safety When Swimming
  • KIDS Art Camp
  • “Being Clean with Your Friend – Mr. Hygiene”
  • Easter and Christmas Celebrations

During the second segment of the KIDS Program, the families enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal prepared by the Saint Anthony Shrine kitchen staff and caringly served by great volunteers. Before leaving, birthdays and recent achievements are celebrated with cake and a special gift. In fact, the KIDS Program tries to make sure that all of the children get a special gift that focuses on their school or general education.
