VOLUNTEERING At St. ANTHONY’S

Welcome to the Directorate of Volunteers at St. Anthony Shrine. As a Directorate, we a few years old—thanks to Fr. David Convertino, the Guardian and Executive Director of St. Anthony Shrine. The primary goal in setting up the Directorate rests in responding in the Franciscan spirit to our downtown needs. The Directorate aligns its goals with Fr. David’s and the Shrine’s mission “to heal the wounded, to unite what is fallen apart and to bring back those who are lost.”

To fulfill these goals, we have recruited many volunteers who help us with our reception, cleaning and changing of missalettes, development, liturgical ministry, hospitality ministry, the Kids’ Program, ESL, Blood Drive and general events like the distribution of St. Anthony Bread, palms, and Annual Campaign brochures.

Our 300 plus volunteers represent many cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Not only do we have Americans amongst this pool of volunteers but also people from Central and South America, Haiti, Uganda, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and India, just to mention a few. As our needs continue to grow, we continually invite volunteers to join us. Volunteers join our program for various reasons. These reasons may include the following:

  • To fulfill one’s Christian role to serve God and others.
  • To contribute in the Franciscan spirit.
  • To feel a sense of belonging in the Downtown community.
  • To give more than to receive.

As each group or Ministry continues to expand, we continue to ask for volunteers. We welcome all to apply to become volunteers at St. Anthony Shrine. If you would like to apply for a position as a volunteer or would like to know more about volunteering at St. Anthony Shrine, please contact us.

Volunteer Application forms may be found in St. Anthony Shrine’s lobbies. An on-line application in PDF format has been provided for your convenience. Thank you and God bless you for considering St. Anthony Shrine in giving your time and talents. All are welcome to be volunteers.
